Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress

Lady Gaga's Meat Dress

In the attempt to once again be the center of attention, at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga went on stage to accept the award for “Video of the Year” wearing a lot of bling and…a meat dress paired with meat hat, shoes and a meat purse. Yes, she wore an all-meat ensemble created by Franc Fernandez.

If this isn’t out of the top, then I don’t know what is! Wearing a dress entirely made out of hunks of meat can get the wearer lots of attention and comments, mostly negative if you ask me. From what I’ve seen and read, there are more people upset by Gaga’s meaty outfit than those impressed by her original style.

Not caring what anyone thinks, Lady Gaga wore the exact same dress to Ellen DeGenere’s show. Ellen, who is a vegan, offered Gaga a bikini made of veggies and suggested she wear that instead.

Leaving the unpleasant imagery on the side, think about the fact that after a couple of hours under TV light, the meat would smell really bad!

This is Gaga’s second time in a meat outfit as she previously posed for the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan in a meat bikini. I’m still hoping she’ll make a statement and  say that the dress was fake.

Share your thoughts on Gaga’s meat dress: offensive or awesome?

Designer Carolina Herrera To Be Honored During Fashion Week

Designer Carolina Herrera To Be Honored During Fashion Week

It has been announced that the famous Carolina Herrera will receive the title of “Mercedes-Benz Presents” Designer for her fabulous spring/summer 2011 collection. In case you don’t know what it is about, the “Mercedes-Benz Presents” program honors designers who use high-quality materials for their creations, have unique style and, of course, innovative and original design. And Carolina Herrera is one of those designers. No wonder she’s a red carpet favorite and all the celebrities love her creations.

According to Lisa Holloday, the manager of brand experience marketing for Mercedes-Benz Usa, “Herrera’s understated grace, precision design and attention to detail uphold the Mercedes-Benz commitment to quality. She is a symbol of great success within the fashion industry and especially in New York City, and choosing her as this season’s Mercedes-Benz Presents Designer represents the strength of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and the event’s bright future at Lincoln Center.” I agree with everything she said.

Other famous designers who received the title of “Mercedes-Benz Presents” Designer are Narciso Rodriguez, Monique Lhuilier, Badgley Mischka and Chado Ralph Rucci.

What do you think of the decision? Should Carolina Herrera receive this title or you have another designer in mind?

Julianne Moore Poses for Bulgari

It’s official, Julianne Moore is the new face and body for Bulgari’s 2010 ad campaign. The gorgeous redhead appears in the ads semi-nude, with her body only covered by fabulous jewelry and great purses and joined by white parrots and cute lion cubs. I can’t believe she is 49-years-old, she looks amazing!

Personally, I love the photos, they’re tasteful, but the mayor of Venice, Giorgio Orsoni has a different opinion: “An advertisement showing a nude woman on a divan is not appropriate for St Mark’s Square.” Another person to say that the photos are indecent is the president of the Venice Foundation: “I take account of the fact that Venice is part of the real word…but we cannot accept these Hollywood-style images. There are intelligent sponsors, and we need to come up with advertising that suits Venice, not Times Square.”

A bit harsh, don’t you think? The photographs don’t seem indecent to me, in fact I think they’re classy. I like the whole concept. Also, isn’t Italy renowned for its numerous fully nude masterpieces? In the ads Moore only shows her arms and legs, why is that so wrong? Take a look at two of the photos for the campaign and share your thoughts.

Jessica Alba’s Blue Velvet Heels

The beautiful Jessica Alba recently made an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan, New York, to promote her latest movie Machete. Photographers snapped pictures of her outside the building while she stopped to sign autographs for fans. Let’s take a look at what she wore:

Jessica Alba’s Blue Velvet Heels

The actress showed off her hot body in a short, summery, blue Marc Jacobs dress with a cute floral pattern which she paired with a pair of chunky royal blue velvet heels. The ruffled mini is pretty, but I’m not sure if it’s really what a 29-years-old should wear; I would like it better on a teenager. But what really caught my attention were the shoes, those velvet shoes.

I know that velvet is a major fashion trend right now, but I do not like the velvet platforms Jessica’s wearing. First of all, they’re too chunky. Second, they don’t match the dress; a pair of strappy sandals would have been the right choice.

Still, the look is an interesting one and somehow she pulls it off. The velvet shoes add the bold element to the overall girly look.

What do you think of Jessica Alba’s velvet platforms? Love them or hate them?

January Jones in Versace at the 2010 Emmy Awards

This dress deserves a post!

January Jones Armani Emmy Dress

I am aware of the fact that most fashion critics and viewers are saying that January Jones’ Armani gown was a miss at the prestigious 2010 Emmy Awards but I completely disagree. I think that the electric blue dress is a masterpiece!

The Mad Men actress, who was nominated for the category of Most Outstanding Actress in a Television Series, said of the frock: “I saw it in Italian Vogue. I just asked Donatella if I could wear it for an evening. It’s extremely glamorous. It’s probably going to be in a museum tomorrow.” And I completely agree. I am also a fan of how the beautiful blonde wore the futuristic dress. Natural make-up, simple and chic hair style, no jewelry and Miu Miu black pumps – just perfect. The dress on its own makes a fashion statement so there was no need for other embellishments.

Take one more look at January Jones and her Armani gown (here photographed with her gorgeous co-stars Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss) and tell me: Do you think the actress deserved all the negative reviews she got for her choice of dress or do you love it as much as I do?

The 2010 Emmy Red Carpet Fashion: Lovely in White

Everybody’s talking about the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: the show, the winners and of course, best and worst dressed! So I’m not going to talk about all that; I’m going to present you with a gallery of my favorite white dresses from the Emmys. White was “the color” on the red carpet if I may say so. There were a lot of gorgeous ladies in white that night (Holland Taylor, Kim Kardashian, Julie Benz, Amber Riley and Rose Byrne just to name a few), so it was pretty hard to narrow it down to only three. But I think I choose the best.

My favorite lady in white was, without any doubt, the beautiful Julie Benz. She wowed on the red carpet with her sleek ponytail, flawless make-up and chic one-shoulder Pamella Roland gown. Love those major Jacob & Co. jewels she was rocking.

My second favorite lady in white was Kim Kardashian who managed to look absolutely gorgeous in her Marchesa dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. She resembled a Grecian goddess!

Also looking breathtaking in white was Brooke Burke. She was the epitome of perfection in her strapless gown with Chopard jewels, René Caovilla heels and a Judith Leiber clutch.

Hospital Gowns Get a Makeover

Hospital Gowns Get a Makeover

That’s right, hospital gowns are now fashionable items!  The patients who check in to the Cleveland Clinic will be wearing hospital gowns designed by none other than Diane von Furstenberg! How amazing is that?!

The new and improved hospital gowns provide full-coverage and include a reversible design that incorporates the Cleveland Clinic’s diamond logo and of course, Diane von Furstenberg’s repetition pattern. Here’s what the famous designer tweeted about her newest creations:

“We are very proud of our hospital gowns for the Cleveland Clinic…we worked hard at it and we hope it will make patients happier! DVF”

According to Jeanne Ryan, who works at Cleveland Clinic and has led the redesign project for the past three years, “patients were just never comfortable. They complained that it didn’t cover enough, that they felt exposed, and people didn’t like the way they looked. People have family and friends visit them in the hospital, and they want to look as nice as they can in that environment.”

While no one enjoys being a hospital patient, the Cleveland Clinic’s patients do have a reason to feel better – fashion wise. They’ll be wearing Diane von Furstenberg creations!

What do you think about getting the hospital gowns a makeover?

Rihanna shows her love for Stella McCartney

These past days Rihanna was seen out and about in New York City wearing Stella McCartney creations not just once, but twice.

First we have the red-haired songstress looking chic and casual while making her exit from her NYC hotel. This picture’s from the day she first showed of her “Rebelle Fleur” tattoo.  Rihanna was wearing a gorgeous Stella McCartney over sized beige blazer which she paired with a striped top and daisy dukes (everybody’s wearing them these days!). The peep toes are very cute too!

Next we got to see the Barbadian beauty in a little black lace dress, of course by Stella McCartney paired with sexy black pumps, heading out to a big after party held at Greenhouse.  I like it how she kept things simple this time. I’m used to seeing her in lots of bright colors and chunky jewelry which don’t look too good worn together.

While I’m a huge fan of blazers, black, white and beige, this time my favorite is the lace LBD. Regarding how Rihanna wore the dress, there’s just one thing I would change: wear a bra – probably everyone saw her nipple ring that night.

What do you think about Rihanna’s fashion choices this time? And let’s not forget her red hair – love it or hate it?

Wedding Beauty Tips From Melissa Schleicher

Wedding Beauty Tips From Melissa Schleicher

Who’s Melissa Schleicher? you may ask. To answer your question, she’s none other than Carrie Underwood’s make-up artist and she recently offered some useful beauty tips to future brides. Melissa shared how she managed to get Carrie looking gorgeous for her wedding day in the Georgia humidity and other beauty secrets. Here’s what the make-up artist had to say:

It was really, really hot and it was raining around 4 o’clock, just before the wedding, so I had to think of the humidity. The hair was a concern so I did kind of an updo. I just it curled it all over and just pieced it up and pinned it with bobby pins all over, real simple. We didn’t practice before the wedding or anything – we’ve done so many award shows and so many hairstyles, so she just lets me do what I do.

As for eye make-up, she used easy to put on and undetectable special edition false eyelashes to achieve “a very full lash that can be dramatic or natural”.

We’ve all seen Carrie’s wedding pictures and she did look amazing so Melissa’s beauty tips will surely come in handy to brides-to-be, don’t you think so?

Breakthrough of the Year Awards: Red Carpet Fashion

Celebrities never miss a chance of hitting the red or white, in this case, carpet and the 2010 Breakthrough of the Year Awards ceremony was no exception. It was a start studded affair at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on August 15. Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara was there, Julie Bowen, Kelly Brook, Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr, AnnaLyne McCord and many more showed off their fabulous dresses on the white carpet carpet. Let’s see some of the night’s best dressed:

  • Jessica Szohr was looking super sexy in her skin tight mini dress paired with peep toe black pumps and black clutch. And I love the hair and make-up too.

Sexy Beautiful Jessica Szohr

  • Next we have Kelly Brook who as usual looks absolutely gorgeous in a flower patterned, floor length dress paired with a silver cutch and swept side hair do. Just look at the details on the dress. I simply adore her look, she’s flawless.

Sexy Beautiful Kelly Brook

  • Next on my list is the beautiful Sofia Vergara who would probably look good in a potato sack.

Beautiful Sexy Sofia Vergara

Here’s 90210’s star AnnaLyne McCord in a bandage, body hugging dress – just like we’re used to seeing her. I really like the color of the dress on her and the hairstyle. She decided to let the dress do the talking so she wears little jewelry, just a pair of earrings and one statement ring – which is perfect if you ask me. The bright pink nail polish is a nice addition to the overall great look.

Which star shined on the white carpet in you opinion? Share your thoughts.
